Unveiling Ocean Crossing, a new wine from our collaboration with this renowned Pomerol Estate
This edition of our Estate Visit Series shares Ocean Crossing, our 2022 vintage collaboration with Pomerol’s La Conseillante.
Some friendships develop gradually over time; others seem to happen instantaneously. The latter was the case when Scott met Jean-Valmy Nicolas, co-proprietor of the revered Pomerol domaine, La Conseillante. The scene was a dinner in Bordeaux arranged by a mutual friend. Scott and Jean-Valmy hit it off immediately, their enthusiasm and values around entrepreneurship and standards of excellence aligning seamlessly. As the evening progressed, the idea of collaborating on a wine naturally arose.
That was the genesis of Ocean Crossing, a wine we introduce at our new Estate Visit Series beginning in February 2025. We are incredibly honored to work with La Conseillante on this project. With roots in the 18th century, La Conseillante is undoubtedly one of France’s most esteemed wine domaines, owned for over 150 years by the Nicolas family and today overseen by 5th generation cousins, Jean-Valmy and Bertrand Nicolas.
The 2022 Ocean Crossing, a blend of 55% La Conseillante and 45% Realm Houyi Vineyard, is truly a collaboration created by both teams during intensive blending sessions held at our Houyi Estate. Scott and Jean-Valmy, together with Benoit and La Conseillante’s Managing Director and Winemaker, Marielle Cazaux (who know each other from attending the University of Bordeaux), tasted multiple lots from both producers in a days-long quest that was challenging, exciting and even a bit emotional. Both teams were prepared to walk away if we couldn’t achieve a blend that met our expectations. Fortunately, that was not the case.
For Realm members only, this experience takes place at the site Ocean Crossing was created, our Houyi Estate on Pritchard Hill. A tour of the winery and vineyard, followed by a guided tasting with insight into the close partnership between Realm and La Conseillante. Wines will include Realm Houyi Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Château La Conseillante and the 2022 Ocean Crossing. The Estate Visit Series is the only opportunity members will have to taste and purchase the 2022 Ocean Crossing. We look forward to sharing this very special project with you. Terms & Conditions
Limited availability and open to active members with a purchasing history. Each experience is approximately 90 minutes and includes a brief walk through the vineyard, so please wear comfortable shoes. For members celebrating their five-year anniversary with us, we offer complimentary attendance for them and up to three guests (for a total of four people, including the member). To ensure access for all members, each member may book one visit per seasonal Estate Visit series. Please note, we cannot accommodate guests under 21, outside food, or non-service animals due to permit requirements.
Reservation changes requested within 48 hours of your appointment may not be accommodated. If you need to cancel your reservation, please inform us at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made within 48 hours of your scheduled experience will result in a full charge. If you cancel a complimentary visit within 48 hours, you may book a future reservation 90 days after cancellation. Tasting fees apply to all visits and are not waived with wine purchases. In consideration of our other scheduled guests, we cannot accommodate visits for parties that arrive more than 30 minutes late to their appointment. Due to our location at Houyi Estate on Pritchard Hill, we recommend arranging car service in advance, as Uber and Lyft availability is limited in the area.
